Dr. Anna Mwangi HSC. – Board Member, Geothermal Association of Kenya

Dr. Anna Mwangi is a geophysicist and strategic leader with over 18 years’ experience managing geothermal and environmental projects across Africa and beyond. She holds a PhD in Geological Sciences and specializes in applied geophysics, surface exploration, resource mapping, and evidence-based decision-making. Her key interests include geothermal project management, direct heat utilization, and capacity building.

She is a recognized advocate for science communication, representing institutions at national and international forums to promote sustainable geothermal development. On the GAK Board, Dr. Mwangi represents the membership, ensuring their perspectives shape governance and strategic decisions. She actively serves on the Education, Legal, and Strategy Committees, supporting capacity building, compliance, and long-term sector growth.

Globally, she contributes through her roles on the World Geothermal Congress (WGC) 2029 Local Organising Committee and WGC Legal Subcommittee, providing leadership in planning, compliance, and high-level initiatives. Her combination of technicalexpertise, advocacy, governance, and strategic experience positions her as a key voice in advancing geothermal development and innovation both locally and internationally.
