Prof. Nicholas Mariita is the immediate former Executive Officer of GAK.

He is a Senior Lecturer and Director of the Geothermal Energy Training and Research Institute (GeTRI) at the Dedan Kimathi University of Technology.

He is involved in planning and implementing activities related to the institute in all areas related to geothermal energy training and research.

Previously, Professor Mariita held senior positions in the geothermal divisions at KenGen and the Ministry of Energy, Kenya, for a period of 29 years. Between 2009 and 2013, he worked as the Chief Geothermal Training Officer at KenGen.

Prof. Mariita has a track record of accomplishments in the geothermal industry with a special focus on research and evaluation of geothermal development plans.

He has a Doctorate Degree in Applied Geophysics from the University of Texas at El Paso, USA. BSc. and MSc. from the University of Nairobi and the University of Birmingham, respectively.

In addition, he possesses a Post Graduate Diploma in Geothermal Energy Technology from the United Nations University, Iceland.
